iPhone 14 Pro Review_ This Will Be Copied!

It will be surprisingly difficult to duplicate exactly at this level. It looks pretty harmless, pretty simple, but there's a lot going on here.

As if there was a new display engine in the A16 Bionic that handles all of these animations, and there are many that actually do.

all together. That has the physics. Just pierce the neckline and it wobbles and moves a little like it's alive. And since there are actual cutouts like holes in the display for the camera and Face ID system, it needs to be touch sensitive in the areas around the actual cutout

which can still register touches when you touch a dead zone on the screen. And for the most part, it works pretty well. It's a game-changing feature

with the top screen of the LG V10? Yes, absolutely. (cheerful music) ♪ Yes, again and again (sings in a foreign language) ♪ - Okay if you are watching

enough iPhone presentations, so you know the iPhone Pro is really all about the cameras. Trivia, they spent 23 minutes on stage

At the September event on the iPhone 14 Pro and seven of those minutes, about 33%, we're just talking about the camera. This is the biggest change that has been made to the iPhone camera in many years, at least on paper. Look at this graph. This is a graph of the megapixel count

of all iPhone cameras since they first came out. They confidently repeat the 12 megapixel sensors from the iPhone 6S. But this year we took a leap, we made the leap. The main camera of the iPhone 14 Pro is now a new 48 megapixel sensor. That's 65% bigger than what we had on the 12 Pro.

It features second generation optical image stabilization with focus shift, 100% focus pixels, and sits behind a new F1.78 lens. I think we all agree

These are great specs and we expect great images from them. But the more I play it, the more it becomes what the new 48MP sensor is so good at enabling. So a new larger 48 megapixel sensor, which drops to 12 megapixels for all your regular photos, but you get the benefits of sharpness and greater light capture from a larger sensor, which also gives you faster shutter speeds. elevated to freeze motion more often than not perfect conditions. It also allows me to take low-light photos with a faster shutter speed, which is very convenient. But the larger sensor gives you natural, shallow depth of field even without portrait mode, more than we've ever seen from an iPhone camera. Now other phones I've seen do just as well

but it presents a number of new challenges, such as colored fringes and autofocus. But I was very impressed with the way the iPhone handles both. Not a ton of edge on close-ups and 100% coverage with focus pixels was pretty obsessed with tracking subjects and keeping things sharp even with shallow depth of field. My only complaint is really the fairly weak minimum focus distance, things get blurry as you get closer to the main camera. So you need to switch to macro mode pretty soon. Fortunately, the Ultra Wide has some improvements too, so it's not the end of the world.

So a 48MP sensor also enables that new 2x button. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's literally cropping only the center 12 megapixels of that huge sensor. So it's essentially like an optical zoom. It is not that you will lose less quality

by 3x would have been earlier on the iPhone because it was cropped into an already 12 megapixel image. The 48-megapixel sensor also enables this new mode of action in videos, which is this super aggressive stabilization for really shaky videos. And it does this with a fairly heavy crop, but it can also stay calm

Record up to 2.8K in this mode. Tip for small professionals, by default the camera is 0.5x, it is much louder when you do this, I recommend the switch

go back to the primary for this. And then when you run chasing a topic, or even pointing at it from a car window, or almost whenever you need something

pretty heavy stabilization, it's definitely nice to have. If you want the full 48MP files, you can shoot in ProRAW and 50 will come out.

60, 70 megabyte DNG files with lots of detail and leeway to move them in Lightroom and make them look better than straight from the camera

12 megapixel recordings. But I'll leave it to Peter McKinnons and Tyler Stalmans or the many other photographers I know who will put it to the test. One thing they haven't done with the new 48MP sensor is 8K video. They could, they couldn't until they crossed the border

Threshold of 30 megapixels. They got to 48, they didn't make it. Of course, that would be pretty tough too, considering the iPhone Max is still a terabyte, which sounds like a lot, but then you're also dealing with huge five-, six-gigabyte-per-minute ProRes files that take forever to come out. from the iPhone get

on that Lightning port and slow speeds. And they should probably just switch to USB-C, and that's a whole tirade for another day, so I'm going to shut down. But know that no 8K video straight from the iPhone camera. I think I can honestly say for sure that the iPhone 14 Pro is the best camera system

in every phone in 2022. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect. It can definitely overload HDR at times in difficult shooting conditions and the new selfie camera, which now has 12 megapixels and autofocus, while adapting much better to a wide range of focal lengths and being sharper overall, still tends to confuse. people with darker skin to constantly overexpose. I'd like to know. But if I just look for the general versatility of the whole photographic system, the improvements in shutter speed, the quality of the photos, the excellent autofocus, the color consistency between the three different cameras, the overall image proce

Pipeline improvements that have made the Ultra Wide much easier to use and less noisy and dim. And then, of course, the ProRes video with which I literally run an entire YouTube channel, so yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm calling it Camera King again. And yes, I'll shoot

but it will also have the classic iPhone suite. The iMessage, FaceTime. Classic. But nothing really stands out
or any crazy design or hardware innovation happening here. Nothing can be folded in half. There's no super fast charging or a huge improvement in battery size. The new colors you've seen are like, yeah, you can tell they look a little different, but this is a very stylish update.
And so the truth is that if you have an iPhone 11 or later at this point, the new iOS 16 update that is sent to your phone right now will make the same difference to the user experience of using the phone as the new phone. So yeah I'd say the new lock screen,
the haptic keyboard, all those things, I made a video about all the new features, you can check that. But yes, this is a really good phone. You should get it if you want the newest, biggest and biggest smartphone camera available right now, or have a $ 1,000 hole in your pocket right now
