[music] so [music] Hey, how's mkbhd here and I've been using Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro for about three weeks now, it's the first year we have been dealing
I expect a real flagship from Google, so the previous Pixels were pretty nice and had great cameras and pretty cool software features, but pretty poor hardware overall, but that's a step up. We expect great things, a great new camera array, a new design language, they made their own chip, there's a lot to say about it, so this is their moon shot, right, this is their chance to compete with big dogs, so now that I've used them, I'll say these are my all-time favorite pixels, and they are. Most of the Google phones ever made are certainly not perfect and there are certainly some areas where they are coming a little short so I'll go through these things but from above I just want to hit you with the prices that are fine to start with, so 5 , 99 for the Pixel 6 ab and 8.99 for the Pixel 6 Pro both at 128g, that's really competitive, so there's already plenty of action at this $ 599 price point, but also what they keep calling the flagship the six that's why it's what it's here to capture shots from iPhones and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultras in the world and it's competing, but the six is the real deal, so I really liked this camera bar design for pixels and the fact is that is polarizing as if you don't look like any other phone. In theory, you know the huge new camera sensors here need all that thickness, but it could have looked like any other phone like the vivo x70 pro plus which has the same 50 megapixel sensor, but they went with a camera rectangle, but that the visor is one aspect is the look of the pixel phone now it is very recognizable and I think it is on purpose and they can keep it that way for at least a few years and the bar design is functional I will do it Let's say my index finger is well under the camera bar when I hold it which is nice it doesn't rock on a table even if you are typing or using your hand, the only weird part is it doesn't fit well enough on aluminum
The sides of this phone, I think it would have been really cool if it was like a seamless one-piece blend like what Samsung did with the s21 ultra, but there are a lot of seams on that camera module, but hey at the end of the day if you just throw the case at us like this dbrand channel sponsor grip case the bump is pretty much nullified anyway, but now you have a flat, even phone that you have icon logos on but of course it's still a pixel under that you still have the visor off the back so unless you think it's incredibly ugly I think it's a win. In this case, try not to look at the back of the phone too much, but come on, the visors look nice, but the part you see on the front of the phone is huge on both screens. Both phones are huge and I think the question is obviously why they haven't made a smaller one and I think Google's answer would be: well, there are people who want to spend less on a phone, but most of those people still want to. a big screen, so they gave it, so the Pixel 6's screen is a whopping 6.4 inch corner to corner 90 hertz 1080p and flat and with pretty small bezels overall and a hole in the middle top for the selfie camera Again a nice good screen for a 600 phone but how about this flagship, so let's take a look at the 6 Pro 6.7 inch 1440p and up to 120 Hertz. It's super super sharp, very responsive and it's been a real treat, but since they've been when I say it's the flagship I can get a little more picky here. Those curved edges are going out of style. I know this gets you even smaller bezels, and they're a little smaller, but the fact that it gets a little darker in the corners doesn't do the screen any favors, and there's a bit of a color shift out there too. axis Also, I don't really see the more expensive screens like the s21 ultra or the iPhone 13 pro, the fingerprint reader on the display of one of these phones is a bit slow so it seems to be an optical sensor that shines the your finger instead of those new ultrasonic sensors that Samsung uses and yes it gets a little annoying after a while, often lasting half a second at least long enough to annoy me for waiting
In order to be able to read my finger, they could have used a better sensor here, or at least made it a little faster. I compare it to thousand dollar phones, but that's what I talked about earlier. It's impressive for being with large dogs, but it detracts from it slightly, now the top hole in the center of these displays houses the selfie camera. It's a pretty decent 8-megapixel widescreen camera on the Pixel 6, but it's closer to an ultra-wide selfie on the 6 Pro which I really like and it's also increased to 11 megapixels, so it'll shoot 4k Power selfie videos too. It fits more people on the frame, big selfie camera fan you are pro, and then you know the little things too, you would expect a great phone to work well, but don't think too much about shutter buttons. Check that both phones are completely waterproof and that the tactile feel on both phones is also really good. So this is a pixel thing, but the biggest new piece that Google adds to these phones is definitely inside and that would be the new Tensor chip that Google is developing for this phone so that they can theoretically do things that they can do with the Qualcomm commercial chip i couldn't do i had used before you knew better machine learning ai better computer photography all kinds of things you want to focus on just with this phone you can do it and it's done, it's really impressive. Now many people are wondering what Tensor would be like right now and benchmarking. I don't think that's the right way to think about this new chip, but just out of curiosity I ran a geekbench on it and we have the numbers on which it is 1035 Single-core 2800 multi-core, so maybe 8-10 slower with the CPU on paper compared to the Snapdragon Triple Eight, but also still way ahead of the Snapdragon 765g they used on the Pixel 5 last year, but then I also did some 3dmark GPU benchmarks and it looked 10-12 faster than the Snapdragon Triple a, but clearly that's not what Tensor is. This could be the biggest. This makes it a fake phone. This is the biggest difference between the benchmarks and what the phone is actually capable of being really fast and responsive, no performance issues for me that I have most of the time
I've used the 6 Pro daily, which has an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 hertz, and loved it, but it's not so much about the performance
It's all about functionality and that continues the tradition of the Pixel phone as the smartest smartphone to come out every year, by the way
Things we've already seen like call screening, where Google Assistants can filter incoming calls for you, or play now, which detects everything in the area
the song plays in the background in your area and simply keeps a list running so you can remember which song was playing in the background
at the supermarket an hour ago and we saw live subtitles of all the videos and phone calls and movies in real time. Aside from that, thanks to Tensor and the dedicated parts of this ship, there are some new and improved things, so first of all, the voice messages on this phone are surreal it's absolutely amazing to the point that it's actually changing the way I use it. the phone. I am trying to use voice more often on this phone because it is so good that I would normally type anywhere
I use this mic button where I can and no matter how fast you talk you can pretty much rap on it, you can speak 200 words per minute like Eminem if you want
and keep going fast, it also adds punctuation very accurately, so you don't even have to think about it, you're just automatic
being grammatically accurate all the time this will make it much less stressful to sit in class and people in class taking notes and basically the transcription is useful everywhere and on top of that it is smart so if you say a name, it is extracted from the names in your contacts, try to make sure it is spelled correctly when there are multiple different spellings of names for something and correct it as soon as you remember the correct spelling of a name when you say it will delete or send those untyped words, it knows what you are trying to do and in reality will delete or send the words
